UBTech Introduces Humanoid Bionic Robots for Personal Use

UBTech Robotics, a company known for its industrial and service solutions, has introduced a new line of humanoid bionic robots called UWORLD U1. This marks a strategic move towards the consumer market, focusing on healthcare, psychological support, and emotional interactions. On June 30, 2026, the Chinese company UBTech Robotics Corp. Ltd., listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, officially unveiled the U1 series of robots. This event signifies a new direction for the company, which previously focused on the B2B sector, providing industrial humanoid robots to factories and logistic centers.

The new U1 line is designed for individual consumers, aiming to serve as “emotional companions,” household assistants, and support for the elderly and those in need of psychological assistance. The UWORLD U1 series consists of three basic models varying in mechanical sophistication and price. The full-size models stand at 183 cm (male version) or 168 cm (female version) in height, weighing around 42 kg. These robots feature an 88-degree of freedom mechanism, enabling smooth and natural movements. Powered by batteries, they offer over four hours of continuous operation on a single charge.

UBTech engineers emphasized the physical realism of the U1 robots. The external coating is made of silicone mimicking human skin, complete with details such as veins. The robot’s skin is warm to the touch, maintaining a temperature close to that of the human body, and integrated sensors enable responses to touch, grip strength, and the user’s pulse. The facial mechanism allows for over 30 different facial expressions, while the visual system enables eye contact with the interlocutor.

The robots are driven by specialized artificial intelligence, facilitating emotional development. With contextual memory, the robot can recall conversation history and personalize interactions with specific users. Additionally, UBTech offers the UWorld application, where the robot has a digital avatar, enabling continued interactions outside the home. The company has reported significant interest in the new product during the pre-sale phase. The U1 Pro model, available with a deposit of 3000 RMB (approximately 1710 PLN), received over 13,000 orders before the official launch.

UBTech aims to fulfill 30,000 to 50,000 orders for U1 series devices in 2026. Initially focusing on the timely delivery of the first 10,000 units, mass shipping of the U1 Pro model to customers is set to commence on September 16, 2026. The business strategy for the U1 series involves diversifying revenue sources through software subscriptions and service offerings. Applications in geriatric care, medical counseling, psychological support, and potential entry into romance simulation game markets are also under consideration.

Introducing highly realistic humanoid robots into domestic spaces poses societal and ethical challenges. To address these concerns, UBTech has established an internal ethics committee for artificial intelligence and robotics. Furthermore, competition in the humanoid robot segment in China is growing, with UBTech facing rivals like Noetix Robotics, Digit Technology, and Droid Robotics.

Ultimately, the advancement of digital technologies raises intriguing questions about the potential future developments and societal implications. As technology progresses, the ethical and legal considerations surrounding the use of lifelike machines become increasingly pertinent, underscoring the need for thoughtful regulation and ethical guidelines in this evolving landscape.
