Rewritten Title: Unitree IPO Establishes Transparent Market Value for Profitable Humanoid Robots

Unitree, a Chinese robotics company, has made its initial public offering (IPO) debut on Shanghai’s STAR Market aiming to raise approximately 4.2 billion yuan (around $618 million), with a valuation of about 42 billion yuan ($5.9 billion). This move marks a significant development in the sector as it will provide a transparent market value for a successful humanoid-robot manufacturer operating on a large scale, a first for the industry.

Previously, companies in the humanoid robotics sector have secured funding based on undisclosed figures without the scrutiny of an open market. Unitree’s IPO will transition the excitement of private funding rounds into the accountability of a public listing, showcasing its financial performance and market position. The company’s IPO approval process, one of the fastest on record for the STAR Market, reflects Beijing’s strategic focus on promoting robotics and AI innovation.

Despite being labeled as a Chinese military company by the US government, Unitree stands out from its competitors by being profitable. Reporting revenues of around 1.7 billion yuan in 2025 with an adjusted profit exceeding 591 million yuan, the company boasts a net margin of over 35%, a rarity in an industry characterized by financial losses.

Unitree’s success is underscored by its significant global presence, with overseas revenue consistently contributing more than 40% to its total earnings. The company’s founder and CEO, Wang Xingxing, owns approximately one-third of the business, highlighting a strong internal leadership structure.

The funds generated from the IPO are designated for research and development of advanced robotics technology, creation of new products, and expansion of manufacturing facilities. Unitree’s IPO will provide a benchmark for the entire “embodied intelligence” sector, contrasting with competitors like UBTech and Tesla, who have yet to demonstrate profitability on a similar scale. The public trading of Unitree’s shares will bring transparency and accountability to the sector, enabling investors to make informed decisions based on actual market performance.
