UBTECH, a pioneering Chinese robotics company, has introduced the U1 series of humanoid robots under its new consumer-focused brand, UWORLD. These U1 humanoids, available in male and female versions, boast lifelike silicone skin, realistic hair, and 88 degrees of freedom for natural movement. Transitioning from industrial automation to the home robotics market, UBTECH developed the U1 series to bring advanced technologies tailored for safe human interaction and autonomous operation in industrial settings to everyday households.

Teaming up with Siemens in March 2025, UBTECH aims to scale up humanoid robot production, targeting an annual manufacturing capacity of 10,000 units by 2026. Despite the anticipated cost of around $30,000 for these lifelike androids, consumer interest is significant. Pre-orders on JD.com with a deposit of 3,000 yuan (~$450) saw over 2,100 reservations within the first week. Deliveries for early customers are set to commence in mid-September, with a full public launch scheduled for June 30.

With a track record of supplying advanced humanoid systems to prominent manufacturers like Airbus, Texas Instruments, and NIO, UBTECH leverages its industrial expertise to introduce its first consumer-oriented humanoids. The U1 series, available in male and female models, stands out with lifelike features, including silicone skin, expressive facial expressions, and coordinated movement capabilities across the body.

Beyond physical labor, the U1 series is designed for social interaction and emotional companionship. These robots incorporate artificial intelligence to engage in conversations, recognize emotions, and adapt responses based on users’ moods. Privacy is a key focus for UBTECH, with personal data stored locally and encrypted for security, while allowing customization of appearance and personality traits over time.

UBTECH’s foray into consumer robotics reflects the growing momentum in humanoid robot technology. Revenue from their humanoid products surged in 2025, indicating a shift towards realistic humanoid companions in the consumer robotics landscape. By merging industrial automation technologies with consumer robotics, UBTECH is poised to lead the charge in creating a new category of lifelike humanoid companions for households.
