The era of mass production for humanoid robots is undoubtedly at its peak. American company Figure AI has achieved a significant industrial milestone by increasing its production rate by 24 times in less than four months, moving from one robot per day to one robot per hour for its Figure 03 model. This ramp-up in production is made possible by BotQ, the factory developed by Figure AI to manufacture its humanoids on a larger scale. The company has already produced over 350 Figure 03 robots and demonstrated the necessary production cycle for its goals: “We have successfully proven the one hour per robot cycle required for our Figure 03 production targets.”
To achieve this feat, Figure AI has established dedicated lines for the robot’s critical modules, controlled by an in-house production management software. More than 150 connected workstations are now utilized in this industrial setup. Apart from mass production, Figure AI also operates a unit dedicated to robot training located at its headquarters. In this unique facility, one can observe robots moving through corridors or practicing precise gestures, creating a setting reminiscent of being immersed in a real-life version of the series Westworld.
By manufacturing hundreds of robots, Figure AI can gather more field data (and at a faster pace) to enhance Helix, its AI system designed to handle everyday physical tasks. The company claims to have surpassed the production of 9,000 actuators, with over ten component variations. Figure AI aims to reduce costs, enhance machine reliability, and prepare for their deployment in businesses before considering sales to individuals in the future.
