In a recent event, a race involving humanoid robots took place in Beijing. The winning robot completed the half-marathon in an impressive time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds, surpassing the human world record set by Jacob Kiplimo. While comparing human and robot running times may seem unusual, the progress in robot racing is evident. Notably, last year’s fastest robot finished the race in two hours and 40 minutes, highlighting a significant improvement this year.

The winning robot, created by Chinese smartphone maker Honor, showcased remarkable speed and efficiency. Interestingly, another robot by Honor finished even faster at 48 minutes and 19 seconds, albeit being remote-controlled. The autonomous nature of the 50:26 robot contributed to its victory through weighted scoring. Beijing’s E-Town tech hub revealed that 40% of the participating robots raced autonomously, with the remaining 60% being remote controlled, showcasing the diversity of technologies in the competition.

The event promises engaging discussions, fireside chats with industry leaders, valuable VC insights, and connections that can drive progress.
