Humanoid, a robotics company based in the U.K., has recently reached a significant milestone by achieving a $1 billion valuation. This achievement positions Humanoid as “Europe’s first pure-play humanoid robotics unicorn.” The company accomplished this feat by securing $152 million in a Series A funding round announced on July 21. This achievement marks a pivotal moment for the European technology sector, showcasing its capabilities to compete on a global scale in the rapidly growing field of humanoid robotics.
Through strategic partnerships with leading companies such as SAP, Nvidia, Bosch, and Siemens, Humanoid has established itself as a key player in the industry. The company has also inked a substantial commercial agreement with Schaeffler to deploy thousands of humanoid robots for manufacturing applications. The infusion of new capital will enable Humanoid to further develop its humanoid robotics platform, advance its proprietary AI brain KinetIQ, and commence mass production of wheel-based humanoid robots.
Zia Huque, General Partner at Prime Movers Lab, which led the funding round, emphasized the significance of humanoid robotics in reshaping commercial and industrial processes in the coming decade. Collaborative robots, or “cobots,” have also been gaining traction in the robotics industry for their ability to assist workers with repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing automation potential. However, ensuring the safety and reliability of these autonomous systems remains a critical consideration for manufacturers.
As the field of humanoid robotics continues to evolve, Humanoid aims to emerge as a category leader in Europe and beyond, driving innovation and redefining how work is performed in various sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and retail. The company’s strategic vision, coupled with its cutting-edge technology developments, positions it as a frontrunner in the global robotics landscape.
