AI Company Surpasses Human Workers with Robots

In a significant development, Figure AI, an AI company, has recently revealed that it now boasts more robots than human employees. The company’s CEO, Brett Adcock, disclosed this transformative shift by presenting a graph that showcased the shift in the workforce composition. Adcock proudly stated that robots now outnumber humans within the Figure AI workforce.

The graph, labeled “Headcount vs Robots,” charts the progression of robot and human numbers from 2022 to 2026. Initially, robot numbers remained negligible until the first quarter of 2025. However, as Figure AI began manufacturing robots, their numbers surged, exceeding 100 by the end of 2025 and reaching around 740 by the second quarter of 2026. In contrast, the human workforce grew steadily from nearly zero in 2022 to approximately 400 by the end of 2025, escalating further to about 650 to 660 in 2026. This data indicates that robots are being integrated into Figure AI at a notably faster pace than human employees.

Adcock shared an image portraying numerous humanoid robots in boxes alongside the caption “Power On,” signaling the company’s stride towards automation and AI advancement. This announcement aligns with the prevailing trend of companies worldwide transitioning towards automation. Industry giants such as Amazon and Meta have laid off thousands of employees to prioritize AI integration. Surprisingly, the tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has expressed optimism that humanoid robots could usher in an era of “amazing abundance for all.”

Figure AI, known as a viral robotics startup, attracted attention when it pitted its Figure 03 robot against an intern in an endurance contest. Despite the intern emerging victorious, Adcock confidently stated that it would be the last human triumph over robots. The company’s innovative approach resonates with the broader landscape of robotics startups, including Tesla’s development of the Optimus robot for imminent commercial deployment and the rapid advancements made by Chinese firms such as Unitree and Agibot in the robotics sector.

This transformative phase within Figure AI underscores the evolving narrative surrounding AI and robotics in modern workplaces, hinting at a future where automation plays an increasingly prevalent role. As the technological landscape continues to shift, Figure AI’s pioneering journey serves as a testament to the ongoing fusion of human intelligence and robotic innovation.
