Naver Corp., the leading internet platform in South Korea, has recently announced a significant partnership with the artificial intelligence (AI) agency of Saudi Arabia. The agreement aims to collaborate on the development of a large language model (LLM) based on the Arabic language. This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed during the Global AI Summit organized by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) in Riyadh.
The collaboration between Naver Corp. and SDAIA spans various technological sectors, including AI, cloud computing, data centers, and robotics. The primary focus of the agreement is the joint development of an Arabic LLM along with innovative technology solutions and services in these fields. SDAIA is driving Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision of establishing a technology-driven economy by 2030, positioning this collaboration as a key milestone in their digital transformation journey.
Notably, Naver Corp. had previously partnered with the Saudi Arabian government to create a digital twin platform for Riyadh and four other cities in the country. This demonstrates Naver’s commitment to leveraging its expertise in technology to support Saudi Arabia’s development initiatives.
