Figure recently showcased another impressive demonstration of its humanoid robot performing household tasks. The company has been developing an AI system that enables humanoid robots to tackle tasks that are considered “simple” for humans but incredibly complex for robots. This effort has culminated in the Helix 02 model, which can autonomously unload dishes from the dishwasher, put them away in the correct places, open and close doors and drawers, and even load dirty dishes into the dishwasher.
Despite being a bit slower than humans, the robot displays surprisingly graceful and fluid movements without the delays seen in previous systems. Notable moments include a hip nudge at 2:50 to close a drawer hands-free and lifting the washing machine door with its foot at 3:20 – mimicking human behavior. The Long‑Horizon Loco-Manipulation Helix 02 excels at continuous, multi‑minute tasks by seamlessly integrating locomotion, dexterity, and sensing.
Following the demonstration, there were accusations suggesting that a human might have remotely controlled the robot. However, Figure’s founder, Brett Adcock, who dismisses claims of Chinese companies producing and selling hundreds or thousands of humanoid robots, assures that the Helix 02 model executed the tasks autonomously. As anticipated, 2026 promises to be an exciting year for the advancement of humanoid robots.
