Shanghai Electric Demonstrates Cutting-Edge Industrial AI Solutions at WAIC 2026
Shanghai Electric recently exhibited its innovative lineup of AI technologies at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and Global AI Governance Meeting in Shanghai. The event showcased Shanghai Electric’s prowess in developing advanced solutions for the high-end equipment manufacturing sector, where tasks requiring precision, stability, and expertise are paramount.
The company’s display featured a range of intelligent robots, including humanoid robots with 41 degrees of freedom, pipe-inspection robots with ±1mm positioning accuracy, and 51 industrial-grade AI agents. These technologies are specifically designed to operate in confined spaces, manipulate complex objects, and perform intricate tasks with high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
Under the theme “AI for All: Smart Squad, Shining Without Limits,” Shanghai Electric underscored its commitment to revolutionizing industrial operations with its embodied intelligence solutions. These solutions encompass AI robots, core robot components, and AI-native smart factory systems, providing end-to-end capabilities for complete robot systems, crucial parts, industrial software, and smart factory architecture.
Wang Chunlei, the deputy general manager of the Robotics Business Unit at Shanghai Electric Automation Group, emphasized the significance of embodied intelligence in industrial contexts. He highlighted the importance of merging machine capabilities with human experience to enable a collaborative paradigm of “machine-assisted, human-machine collaboration.”
Shanghai Electric’s robotics portfolio is tailored to five key industrial scenarios, including connector insertion, electrical operations, flexible sorting, intelligent assembly, and pipe processing. The company also showcased essential core components like the planetary roller screw, boasting superior load capacity, and the DexHand dexterous hand, designed for diverse gripping and manipulation tasks.
Additionally, Shanghai Electric introduced 51 AI models and agents as part of its “StarCloud Intelligent Manufacturing” series, catering to various domains such as R&D, production, and operations. These AI agents are integrated into robotic decision-making systems and AI-native smart factories, enhancing process optimization, maintenance, and other critical operations through data-driven insights.
Moreover, the company unveiled the “AI-Native Smart Factory Technology White Paper,” outlining an innovative architecture for real-time optimization of production data. This architecture enables intelligent, autonomous factory operations by integrating AI algorithms, industrial agents, and smart equipment, promoting data-driven decision-making and process efficiency.
