Pudu, a Chinese robotics firm, has introduced the PUDU D7, a cutting-edge semi-humanoid robot tailored for manufacturing and factory settings. Unlike conventional robots, the D7 is equipped with embodied AI, operated by Pudu’s PuduFM 1.0 foundation model. This innovative robot possesses the ability to comprehend tasks, learn from experience, and adapt to real-world scenarios, enhancing factory automation with intelligent decision-making, continuous learning, and increased operational flexibility across various industrial applications.
The PUDU D7 showcases a unique design, blending an omnidirectional chassis, robotic arms, and a human-like upper body, with a focus on real-world experience-driven evolution rather than relying solely on pre-programmed functions. Through its end-to-end data collection system and continuous feedback loop, the robot refines its understanding of industrial workflows, spatial relations, and manufacturing processes as it operates, continually enhancing its performance with each task completed.
Equipped with dual robotic arms and advanced force-control technology, the D7 can autonomously handle tasks like material transportation, inventory management, and shelf picking in warehouses, factories, and logistics environments. With a payload capacity of up to 30 pounds and the ability to operate at heights of 6.5 feet, the robot interacts effectively with storage systems, ensuring precision in handling both heavy and delicate items while minimizing the risk of damage during transit.
The PUDU D7’s operational capabilities are augmented by tactile sensors for fine control tasks, such as assembly and precision handling, ensuring stable, accurate operations while adapting force according to task requirements. To navigate safely within dynamic industrial settings, the robot is equipped with LiDAR systems and a perception suite, enabling it to detect obstacles, adjust routes, and move through factory spaces efficiently.
Moreover, the D7 supports autonomous battery swapping, allowing for uninterrupted 24/7 operation, optimizing equipment utilization and productivity. Looking ahead, Pudu plans to introduce PuduAgent, an embodied AI agent platform, to enhance robots’ abilities in interpreting user goals, coordinating tasks, and collaborating across various locations, marking a move towards autonomous decision-making and intelligent collaboration in industrial environments.
