UBTech, the Chinese robotics firm, has partnered with Siemens Digital Industries Software to enhance the production of humanoid robots. Through this strategic cooperation, UBTech aims to scale up its humanoid robot production to 10,000 units annually by 2026. The collaboration, initiated in Shenzhen on March 16, combines UBTech’s expertise in humanoid robotics with Siemens’ knowledge in industrial digitalization and smart manufacturing.

As the demand for industrial humanoid robots grows, companies are shifting towards large-scale production. UBTech’s founder and CEO, Zhou Jian, highlighted the urgency in meeting the increasing orders by aiming for mass production. The agreement with Siemens marks a significant move towards achieving this goal. Siemens will assist UBTech in designing a digital transformation roadmap encompassing the entire production lifecycle, from research and development to full-scale manufacturing.

Siemens’ industrial software portfolio will play a vital role in digitizing UBTech’s operations, crucial for scaling the production of complex machines like humanoid robots. The partnership not only focuses on technology integration but also includes technical training and support to enhance UBTech’s manufacturing capabilities.

UBTech has already started commercializing its humanoid robots, with the delivery of the Walker S2 model in 2025 and a surge in market demand. Moving forward, the competition in the humanoid robotics industry will revolve around cost efficiency, production optimization, and widespread deployment. Achieving the target of 10,000 units necessitates enhancements in production capacity, supply chain management, quality control, and system reliability—all areas that the Siemens partnership aims to cover.

Siemens’ Xcelerator platform and industrial software stack aim to streamline the design, production, and operation processes, potentially reducing time-to-market and enhancing consistency on a larger scale. For UBTech, the collaboration signifies a transition from technical prowess to industrial output, while reflecting the industry’s momentum towards establishing humanoid robots as reliable tools in factory settings.
