Naver’s executives were spotted at the Global AI Summit organized by the Saudi Data & AI Authority in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as shown in a photo shared by the Korean company on September 12. Naver, the operator of Korea’s largest internet platform, has recently entered into an initial agreement with Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence (AI) agency to collaborate on the development of a large language model (LLM) based on the Arabic language, company officials confirmed on Friday.
At the Global AI Summit hosted by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) in Riyadh earlier this week, representatives from Naver and the SDAIA formalized their partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work together across various sectors, including AI, cloud computing, data centers, and robotics, as per the officials. As outlined in the MOU, the two organizations aim to jointly create an Arabic LLM and offer technology solutions and services within these areas.
SDAIA has been at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plan to transition into a technology-based economy by 2030. In a similar vein, Naver had previously inked a deal with the Saudi Arabian government to develop a digital twin platform for Riyadh and four other cities in Saudi Arabia.
