Humanoid Robots Achieve Speeds Matching Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt, widely known as the fastest human ever, now faces competition from AI-powered humanoid robots. Unitree, a leading Chinese robotics company, recently unveiled its H1 robot achieving the fastest 100-meter sprint by a humanoid robot, clocking in at 10 meters per second. Bolt’s remarkable record from 2009 shows he reached speeds up to 12.42 meters per second, with an average speed of 10.44 meters per second over the same distance. The incredible speed displayed by humanoid robots now rivals that of the Jamaican sprinting legend.

Unitree Robotics showcased new test footage of its H1 humanoid robot sprinting at speeds of up to 10.1 meters per second, putting it on par with Usain Bolt’s achievements. Although the company admitted to some minor measurement inaccuracies during the test, the performance of the H1 robot is considered a significant advancement in bipedal robot mobility. Their viral video was captioned with excitement: “10 m/s!! Unitree Breaks the World Record Again. With the physique of an ordinary person, running at a world champion’s speed.”

Notably, several years back, Star1 held the title of the fastest bipedal humanoid robot at 8 miles per hour, while the Unitree H1 now peaks at an impressive 22 mph, showcasing the rapid advancement of technology. Another Chinese company, MirrorMe, introduced its own humanoid robot named Bolt, capable of matching speeds of 10 meters per second, directly competing with the H1. For those interested in the world’s fastest quadruped robot, Mirror Me’s Black Panther is worth checking out. The progression of technology in the robotics field continues to astonish with each new development.
