Naver Corp., a leading South Korean internet platform operator, has announced a new collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence (AI) agency aimed at developing an Arabic language-based large language model (LLM). This partnership was formalized during the recent Global AI Summit hosted by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) in Riyadh, where Naver and SDAIA signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in AI, cloud computing, data centers, and robotics.
As part of the agreement, the two entities will work together to create an Arabic LLM and develop technology solutions and services in related fields. The SDAIA is instrumental in driving Saudi Arabia’s vision of establishing a technology-driven economy by 2030. Notably, this isn’t Naver’s first venture with Saudi Arabia, as they previously joined forces with the Saudi Arabian government to establish a digital twin platform for Riyadh and four other cities in the country.
