Generative Bionics, an Italian robotics company, has successfully secured $81 million in new funding, making it one of the largest funding rounds in Europe within the “humanoid robotics deep tech space.” The company’s co-founder and CEO, Daniele Pucci, expressed their mission of creating a future where intelligent humanoid robots collaborate with people to enhance human cognitive and physical capabilities. Their cutting-edge Physical AI technology allows them to develop robots inspired by human design that offer tremendous value across various applications.
Analytical projections suggest that the humanoid robotics market is expected to surpass 200 billion euros ($232 billion) by 2035, with estimates reaching over $5 trillion by 2050. Generative Bionics aims to establish itself as a global leader in physical AI for human-centric humanoid ecosystems, according to Pucci. The company plans to utilize the recently raised funds for advancing product development, training physical AI systems, which merge robotics and AI, and constructing its inaugural production facility.
The funding round was spearheaded by CDP Venture Capital, with contributions from investors like Tether. Generative Bionics is currently finalizing its initial industrial deployment agreements, slated for early 2026, marking the integration of humanoids into real-world production settings. The concept of physical AI signifies the next phase of robotics, leveraging advancements in sensing, perception, and large AI models to equip machines with unprecedented capabilities beyond conventional automation.
A noteworthy illustration of this technological progress is Amazon’s introduction of the Vulcan robot, which utilizes both vision and touch to handle the picking and storing of items in fulfillment centers. This innovation enables the robot to manage flexible fabric storage pods and handle diverse product shapes, responding in real-time to pressure, contact, and motion akin to human dexterity.
As physical AI continues to revolutionize the robotics landscape, companies like Generative Bionics are at the forefront of pioneering advancements that will shape the future of humanoid robotics. Through strategic investments and advancements in technology, the potential for transformative human-robot collaboration is becoming increasingly tangible.
