NEURA Robotics, a cognitive robotics startup based in Metzingen, has recently announced the acquisition of Adlatus Robotics, a company located in Ulm known for producing autonomous cleaning robots. Through its subsidiary NEURA Mobile Robots GmbH, specializing in logistics and automated vehicles, the deal involves integrating Adlatus’s cleaning and sweeping robots into NEURA’s overarching platform known as the “Neuraverse.”
David Reger, the founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics, emphasized that the acquisition is not merely to expand their robot portfolio but to enhance these machines with advanced cognitive capabilities. Reger envisions a future where robots are not just capable of navigating their environments but also understand what they see, sense, and need to do. This evolution represents a significant stride in the realm of Physical AI.
The recent acquisition of Adlatus Robotics follows NEURA’s earlier agreement to acquire the ACTIVE Shuttle automated guided vehicle business from Bosch Rexroth. This move saw the integration of Bosch Rexroth’s technology into NEURA’s offerings, underlining the company’s commitment to advancing automation and robotics solutions.
Established in 2019, NEURA Robotics focuses on building cognitive robots such as the humanoid 4NE1 and robotic arms like MAiRA and LARA. These robots are equipped with cutting-edge software and AI infrastructure enabling them to learn and share skills within the Neuraverse ecosystem. Unlike conventional robotics companies, NEURA combines robotics, AI, sensors, edge computing, and large-scale learning infrastructure in a unified platform architecture designed for global deployment.
Following a successful Series C financing round of up to €1.2 billion ($1.4 billion) in June, NEURA Robotics has secured funding from leading players in the industry to support its ambitious manufacturing expansion plans. The company aims to scale production to several million robots by 2030 and expand its network of “NEURA Gyms,” real-world training environments for cognitive robots.
NEURA Mobile Robots, based in Hamburg, specializes in mobile transport robotics for production and warehouse logistics under the ek robotics brand. Adlatus Robotics, headquartered in Ulm, brings over 20 years of experience in developing autonomous cleaning robots for various sectors, with a strong focus on real-world cleaning operations.
NEURA plans to enhance Adlatus’s robots with additional sensor and AI capabilities, integrating them into the Neuraverse platform. This integration aims to enable the cleaning robots to recognize different surfaces, adapt cleaning strategies, and continuously learn from interactions, transforming them into smart cleaning machines.
NEURA envisions the Neuraverse as an open infrastructure where other manufacturers of cleaning and mobile robots can connect their devices, fostering collaboration and scalability within the robotics industry. By creating an ecosystem for Physical AI, NEURA Robotics aims to drive innovation and adoption of advanced robotic technologies.
