Introducing the latest breakthrough in humanoid robotics, NVIDIA has unveiled the first open humanoid robot reference design leveraging its Isaac GR00T development platform. This innovative robot integrates advanced AI computing with an open-source development platform, providing researchers with a comprehensive ecosystem for creating cutting-edge humanoid robots.

The humanoid robot, based on the Unitree H2 model, stands nearly six feet tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. With 31 degrees of freedom enabling lifelike movements, the robot is equipped with dual Sharpa Wave tactile five-finger hands, adding 44 additional degrees of freedom for enhanced dexterity. Featuring advanced sensing technologies and impressive torque capabilities, the robot can handle complex physical tasks with ease.

Powering the robot’s onboard intelligence is NVIDIA’s Jetson AGX Thor T5000 computing platform, offering substantial AI performance and real-time sensor processing. The platform is tightly integrated with NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T software ecosystem, facilitating data collection, simulation, training, and deployment for robotics researchers.

Researchers can utilize a range of tools within the ecosystem, such as Isaac Teleop for data capture, Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab for virtual training, and Isaac ROS middleware for policy deployment onto physical robots. With support for the Unitree G1 humanoid robot and collaboration with renowned institutions, the platform aims to accelerate advancements in humanoid robotics research.

Join leading robotics institutions in exploring the limitless possibilities of the Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robot, designed to catalyze innovation in the field. Embrace open platforms, share code, and collaborate with peers to drive progress in robotics research. NVIDIA’s commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration ensures that the future of humanoid robotics is within reach for researchers worldwide.
