RoboParty, a revolutionary biped humanoid robot startup that operates as a full-stack open-source platform, recently secured significant seed funding in the seven-figure range. The funding round, which took place following the company’s establishment in April 2025, attracted investments from notable names such as Matrix Partners China, Xiaomi Strategic Investment, Galaxy Universal, and L2F Capital.
The brainchild behind RoboParty is Huang Yi, who, despite being a young entrepreneur born in 2004, has emerged as one of China’s most promising figures in the humanoid robot space. Notably, while pursuing his studies as a first-year student at Harbin Institute of Technology, Huang managed to construct a functional walking humanoid robot named AlexBot in modest dormitory settings with a budget of only $2,100. Impressively, he shared the entire development process openly with the public, showcasing his dedication to transparency and collaboration within the robotics community.
Following this early success, Huang unveiled an upgraded iteration of his creation, AlexBotmini, with support from Fourier Intelligence. Subsequently, he accelerated his academic timeline to launch RoboParty, with a primary focus on establishing a comprehensive open-source ecosystem for humanoid robots. Notably, RoboParty stands out as the pioneering fully open-source biped robot platform in China, with its upcoming model, ATOM, hailed as the nation’s inaugural fully open-source humanoid robot.
Huang Yi advocates for the advantages of an open-source approach, citing it as the most efficient route to developing a robust ecosystem by facilitating collaborative efforts, setting common standards, and fostering a unified industry platform. He contends that open-source practices not only tear down collaboration barriers but also bolster security measures and enhance global competitiveness within the field of humanoid robotics.
Presently, RoboParty is actively engaged in angel-round fundraising initiatives with the ambitious objective of creating a “robotics Android” – a comprehensive open platform aimed at propelling the next phase of embodied intelligence evolution. With Huang Yi’s visionary leadership and the company’s commitment to innovation and sharing, RoboParty is poised to drive substantial advancements within the humanoid robot landscape.
