In Beijing’s E-Town (Yizhuang) district, a newly opened Robot Mall has been creating a buzz as a cutting-edge shopping destination exclusively dedicated to robots. The four-story mall spans over 43,000 square feet and features a diverse range of robotic products from more than 40 Chinese brands such as Ubtech Robotics, Unitree Robotics, and the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.
The mall offers an extensive selection of robots catering to various needs and interests. Shoppers can find intriguing options like a life-sized humanoid replica of physicist Albert Einstein, chess-playing robots, pet robot dogs, and over 100 different robotic models. These robots encompass a wide spectrum of applications in fields such as medical, industrial, bionic, and humanoid robotics, showcasing the advancements in the industry.
With prices ranging from 2,000 yuan ($278.33) to several million yuan, customers have options across different budget ranges to explore. Notably, the talking humanoid Albert Einstein robot commands a price tag of 700,000 yuan ($97,473). To meet the evolving demands of customers, the Robot Mall operates on the ‘4S’ model, offering sales, spare parts, service, and surveys, mirroring the services provided at a traditional car dealership.
The inauguration of the Robot Mall coincides with the start of the five-day 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) and sets the stage for the first-ever World Humanoid Robot Games, scheduled from August 14 to 17 in Beijing. As part of the mall’s innovative offerings, visitors can enjoy a unique dining experience at a restaurant staffed by robot waiters, chefs, bartenders, and even a robot rock band.
Adding to the interactive experience, the mall features stations where customers can engage with robot dogs, robot hands, and challenge robots to games like football, basketball, and chess. With the ongoing World Robot Conference and the upcoming World Humanoid Robot Games, the Robot Mall anticipates a surge in footfall, attracting robot enthusiasts and visitors keen to witness the technological marvels on display.
In embracing the growing popularity of robotics in everyday life, Wang Yifan, a store director at the mall, highlighted the importance of accessibility to robots for households. The Robot Mall stands as a testament to the widespread adoption of robotics and the diverse applications they offer across industries and daily activities.
